Tanzania entry Requirements , The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania (URT), through its Ministries of Health for Mainland and Zanzibar, has updated its COVID-19 preventive measures for international travel. These updates, replacing Travel Advisory No. 8 (13th September 2021) with version No. 9, are effective from 25th December 2021. Key measures include:
General Preventive Measures
- Infection Control: Authorities at Points of Entry must ensure adherence to infection prevention protocols, including hand hygiene, physical distancing, and face masks for travelers and staff.
Traveler Requirements
- Health Surveillance Form: All travelers, including Tanzanians, returning residents, and crew members, must complete an online Traveler’s Health Surveillance Form within 24 hours before arrival. Mainland travelers should use afyamsafiri.moh.go.tz, and Zanzibar travelers should use healthtravelznz.mohz.go.tz.
- Negative COVID-19 Test Certificate: Travelers must present a negative RT-PCR or NAAT test result conducted within 96 hours of arrival. Non-compliance will result in denial of entry or repatriation at the conveyance’s expense.
- Rapid Antigen Test: Travelers from countries with COVID-19 variants or high case rates must undergo a Rapid Antigen Test upon arrival at their own cost:
- Mainland: $10 USD or TZS 23,000
- Zanzibar: $25 USD or TZS 58,000
Fully vaccinated travelers to Zanzibar with approved vaccines are exempt from this test.
- Quarantine for Positive Cases: Asymptomatic travelers testing positive must quarantine at their own expense until they test negative. Symptomatic travelers will be isolated and treated until deemed non-infectious.
- Recovered Travelers: Proof of recovery from COVID-19 issued by authorized medical personnel is required for entry.
- Payment for Testing: Travelers are encouraged to pay for Rapid Antigen Tests online to reduce delays upon arrival.
Exemptions
- Children under five, travelers in transit, and aircraft crew are exempt from RT-PCR and Rapid Antigen Test requirements.
Conveyance Regulations
- Passenger Information: Arriving conveyances must submit passenger details for scrutiny and provide completed health declaration forms.
- Decontamination: Conveyances may undergo decontamination at Points of Entry if necessary.
Departing Travelers
- Travelers should confirm COVID-19 requirements for their destination country. Specific requirements include:
- Dubai: RT-PCR within 48 hours and Rapid PCR within 6 hours before departure.
- India, Rwanda, DRC, and parts of Europe: Rapid Antigen Test required in addition to RT-PCR.
Trucking and Freight Regulations
- Drivers and crew must hold a valid RT-PCR certificate (valid for 14 days) and are subject to screening and quarantine at their own cost if suspected of infection.
- Trucks are limited to 2-3 crew members, and backup arrangements must be made if a driver or crew member is quarantined during transit.
