Deals of The Year: Book your Safari and Zanzibar Deals 2024! Up to 10% OFF
Embark on a 17-day adventure through Tanzania’s iconic Northern and Southern safari circuits, blending thrilling wildlife encounters, cultural experiences, and breathtaking landscapes. This camping safari offers a front-row seat to the wonders of the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, and the remote gems of southern Tanzania, making it perfect for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers.
It’s time to begin your safari. Welcome to Tanzania! After we greet you and provide you with the trip briefing, we’ll take you out to help you discover why so many people think Tanzania is the best place in Africa to go on safari. Busy Arusha is an essential part of safari life here in northern
Tanzania and most travelers pass through at some stage. Whether you’re on your way out on safari or here for a little longer, you’ll catch a glimpse of streets filled with energy and color.
Meal Plan – Day 1
Vast Lake Natron, in Tanzania’s far north and next to the Kenya–Tanzania border, is an incredible destination. It’s home to flocks of pink flamingos, and the views here can be incredible, especially near the lake’s southern end from where you’ll see the stunning, perfectly formed volcanic peak
of Ol Doinyo Lengai.
Main Destination: Lake Natron
In the Northern Serengeti, you’ll see wildlife in a beautiful setting and with not many other people around. There are animals here all throughout the year, but they’re everywhere when the migration is passing through. The scenery in this part of the park is also superb with plenty of Serengeti
savannah grasslands between the rocky hills and Mara River.
Main Destination: Northern Serengeti National Park
Return to the Northern Serengeti to enjoy further this area of the park.
Early Morning Game Drive, Northern Serengeti
National Park
Imagine being out in the soft, early morning light, wrapped in a blanket, just as the animals emerge from their night’s rest or from the shadows of their nighttime adventures. The world feels fresh and new on an early morning game drive, the sun has yet to beat down upon the earth, and it may end up being your favorite time to be out on safari.
Main Destination: Northern Serengeti National Park
You’ll never forget the time you spend in the Serengeti. Perhaps it will be the sightings of leopard and cheetah as they show their skills as feared hunters of the plains and valleys. Or that unforgettable moment when an elephant family feeds alongside your vehicle, so close you could almost reach out and touch them. Or the first time you hear a lion roar. Then there are the herds of buffalo, zebra or wildebeest so large that they move as one across your horizon, like a river. All of these experiences are possible in the Serengeti, one of the most beautiful parks in Africa.
Central Serengeti National Park
Experience classic safari scenery with acacia trees and savannah grasslands, as well as plenty of wildlife, when you visit the Central Serengeti.
Main Destination: Serengeti National Park
Return to the Central Serengeti to further explore this impressive place.
Today you’ll visit Ngorongoro Crater, one of the most beautiful natural sights in Africa, a place where you’ll experience otherworldly beauty with extraordinary wildlife. Watch as, from above, morning mist rolls up and over the crater rim, and notice how the steep walls suggest a place
unlike any other. Down below on the crater floor, explore a lost world preserved in a state of pristine isolation, one that shelters lions and hyenas, elephants and black rhinos, flamingos and golden jackals. There are also forests, hippofilled lakes, a salt pan and hyena dens, and you’ll never lose the sense that you’ve stumbled into a safari theme park where
everything’s wild.
Discover Tanzania’s national capital, a custom-built city where the skyline is dominated by churches, mosques and Hindu temples, as well as the government buildings where weighty decisions are made. You’ll also welcome the chance to visit the market, choose between plenty of restaurants across a range of cuisines, and access banks and other useful services.
Take in everything that Ruaha has to offer – it’s one of Tanzania’s least-visited but most rewarding parks. Ruaha is famous for its big lion prides – the lion population here is one of Africa’s biggest. You can also expect big elephant and buffalo herds, as well as plenty of giraffe, hippo and zebra.
The variety of birds is also incredible, with more than 450 species recorded in the park. Apart from the animals, what many travelers love most about visiting here is the feeling of exploring a true African wilderness that’s one of the most beautiful anywhere on the continent.
Ruaha is a big park to explore, so spending additional time here is always welcome.
You’ll be grateful for the chance to spend more time in Ruaha
Spending time in Mikumi National Park could just be one of your best safari surprises. It has all the wildlife you could wish for, including four of the Big Five – lion, leopard, elephant and buffalo. But your biggest prize of all may be finding a pack of endangered African wild dogs, which is always an exhilarating sight. You’ll love the landscapes, too – so many classic safari images including grassy plains, light woodlands and plenty of baobabs, that strangely wonderful tree of the African plains. Put it all together and you’ll soon understand why they sometimes call Mikumi ‘Little Serengeti’.
Spend more time in Mikumi in the shade of baobabs and alongside elephants, lions, leopards, wild dogs and more.
Morogoro
Morogoro lies at the foot of the Uluguru Mountains, and here you’ll appreciate the countless opportunities to see Tanzania with scarcely another traveler in sight.
Get to know one of Tanzania’s most important national parks. Here you’ll find lions – Nyerere National Park has one of Africa’s biggest lion populations – elephants, crocodiles, zebras and lots of other safari animals present in large numbers. Hippos, giraffes, wildebeest and buffalo are
also seen. And you might see leopards and African wild dogs if you’re really lucky. Admire also the rugged landscape of rocky hills and lakes and the wide Rufiji River, all fringed with palm trees. Despite the Selous being one of the largest protected areas in East Africa, the area open for
visitors is relatively small so you will enjoy a concentrated safari experience.
Boat Trip, Nyerere National Park
Enjoy Tanzania’s best boat safari when we take you out on the Rufiji River, which runs alongside (and into) Nyerere National Park. You’ll almost certainly see hippos and crocs in the water, and you never quite know what’s going to come down to the river’s edge to drink.
Pass more time in Nyerere National Park, with its plentiful wildlife and landscapes you won’t find anywhere else
