- Overnight at Arusha Coffee Lodge
After a warm welcome at the airport, you will be taken to your overnight hotel in Arusha. Relax after your long flights and have a good night’s sleep.
If time permits, you can tour the colourful town of Arusha to get a flavour of Tanzanian life and culture. Arusha is the gateway to some of Africa’s most spectacular natural wonders and sits at the foot of Mount Meru, one of the highest mountains in Africa.
The town is a welcoming cultural and natural gem, ideal for a stopover before or after your safari. Whether you want to explore the city’s food scene, coffee plantations, museum, or sample the local shops, we can arrange a guide to showcase the best of the town.
Days 2–3: Tarangire National Park — Elephants, Baobabs and Birdlife
After breakfast, you depart Arusha with your guide and travel southwest through rural landscapes toward Tarangire National Park. Upon entering the park, the journey becomes a game drive, with time taken to explore the river corridors and open plains before arriving at Oliver’s Camp, set deep within the park.
Tarangire is defined by its ancient baobab trees, seasonal swamps, and large elephant populations that move through the park in impressive numbers. In addition to elephant herds, the area supports healthy populations of buffalo, lion, and leopard, along with a wide variety of plains game that attracts predators year-round.
The next two days are spent exploring Tarangire at an unhurried pace. Game drives are complemented by guided walking safaris, offering insight into the smaller details of the ecosystem and a different way of experiencing the landscape. During the dry season, Tarangire hosts one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Tanzania, while its diverse habitats support more than 550 bird species throughout the year.
For those seeking a different perspective, an optional early-morning hot-air balloon safari offers a quiet and memorable view across the park as wildlife moves below at first light.
Overnight at Oliver’s Camp.
Days 4–5: Ngorongoro Conservation Area — Crater and Wildlife

Perched on the rim, the camp offers sweeping views of volcanic peaks and the surrounding highlands. Each geodesic suite features en suite facilities with hot running water, double showers, and comfortable living spaces designed to complement the landscape.
The next two days are dedicated to exploring the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its extraordinary density of wildlife. Game drives are conducted in a comfortable seven-seater vehicle with pop-up rooftops, allowing uninterrupted views of lions, elephants, buffalo, and other species that inhabit the crater floor. Optional excursions include hikes to Olmoti and Empakaai Craters or visits to local Maasai villages to experience traditional herding practices.
Back at camp, there is time to unwind in the spa and sauna, or relax with pre-dinner drinks by the fire. The Highlands Camp also offers a family suite and a honeymoon suite with a private hot tub, providing a personal and intimate retreat. With its combination of location, design, and service, the camp ensures a memorable and seamless stay in one of Tanzania’s most iconic regions.
Days 6–8: Northern Serengeti — Sayari Camp and the Great Migration
After breakfast, transfer to the airstrip for a light aircraft flight to the northern Serengeti, where Sayari Camp awaits. Nestled in a prime location, the camp provides exceptional access to seasonal wildlife movements, including the dramatic river crossings of the Great Migration, as well as abundant resident species that roam the plains year-round.
Sayari Camp comprises 15 spacious tented suites, each designed with mahogany floors, king or twin beds, and vibrant linens. Bathrooms are generous, featuring walk-in showers, free-standing bathtubs with savannah views, and private outdoor showers on the deck. A wraparound veranda offers space for quiet observation, while a rim-flow pool set among natural rock formations provides a serene vantage point to watch elephants or zebra wander past.
Game drives are conducted with flexibility, allowing extended time at moments of interest, whether following big cats, observing grazing herds, or spotting the rare black rhino. Optional wellness experiences, such as deep tissue massages, complement the day’s adventures. The camp also offers exclusive retreats, ideal for families or small groups seeking a private and uninterrupted safari experience.
Each day at Sayari unfolds at a considered pace, blending the thrill of the Serengeti’s wildlife with the comfort and refinement of a camp designed to harmonize with its surroundings.
Day 9: Farewell to the Serengeti
Enjoy a final breakfast at Sayari Camp as the plains come alive with passing herds of elephant, zebra, and wildebeest. After savoring these last moments of the Serengeti, your guide will transfer you to the airstrip for your light aircraft flight back to Kilimanjaro International Airport.
This concludes your journey through northern Tanzania’s most remarkable wildlife landscapes. From the sweeping plains of the Serengeti to the dramatic rim of the Ngorongoro Crater and the ancient baobabs of Tarangire, the memories of this carefully paced and immersive safari will remain long after your return home.

Popular questions about Luxury Safari
-
What defines a luxury safari in Tanzania?
A luxury safari is defined by privacy, location, and execution rather than labels. It means traveling in a private vehicle with a dedicated guide, staying in well-positioned camps known for service and atmosphere, and having the freedom to adjust daily plans based on wildlife movement, weather, and personal interests.
-
Is a luxury safari always private?
Yes. A true high-end safari is private by design. You are not sharing vehicles, guides, or schedules with other travelers. This allows for unrushed game drives, longer wildlife sightings, and complete flexibility throughout the journey.
-
How long should a luxury safari be?
Most luxury travelers choose between 7 and 12 days. This allows time to explore different ecosystems without feeling hurried, includes internal flights to reduce long drives, and creates space for rest between safari activities.
-
Are lodges or camps more important than the itinerary?
Both matter, but location comes first. The best camps are chosen for where they are, not how many amenities they list. Being close to wildlife corridors, rivers, and predator areas consistently delivers a better experience than staying farther away in larger properties.
-
Is the safari pace flexible?
Completely. There are no fixed departure times or mandatory schedules. Game drives can start early or late, last longer when sightings are exceptional, or pause for rest when needed.
-
Is this type of safari suitable for first-time visitors to Africa?
Absolutely. Private, well-planned safaris are often the most comfortable and rewarding way to experience Africa for the first time, with seamless logistics and personal support throughout.
-
Can the itinerary be customized further?
Yes. Every detail, from camps and flight routing to activity style and travel rhythm, can be adjusted to match your preferences.
